Since the first Conference on Asphalt Pavements for Southern Africa was held in Durban in 1969, CAPSA has provided an important platform for the dissemination of knowledge and the exchange of ideas relating to flexible-pavement engineering.

Over successive conferences, CAPSA has brought together practitioners, researchers, road authorities, consultants, contractors, producers, suppliers and other industry participants from Southern Africa and abroad. Its value lies not only in presenting technical developments, but in encouraging debate, sharing professional experience and supporting the advancement and practical implementation of improved pavement-engineering practice.

Today, CAPSA is acknowledged internationally as a premier conference in its field. Its continued relevance reflects its ability to respond to changes in technology, industry practice and the wider environmental and societal landscape, while remaining focused on the construction, maintenance and preservation of road infrastructure in the region.

As the host organisation of CAPSA, SABITA is proud to steward this important industry platform and carry forward a legacy that predates SABITA in its current form and which we are privileged to advance.
