Abstracts
Abstracts which demonstrate resonance with the conference theme and presenting advancement in technology are to be submitted to the secretariat for acceptance. Once accepted, authors will be advised to prepare the full paper. Abstracts should not exceed 300 words in length. Please click on the link below to register as an author and submit your abstract online. Guidelines related to the submission of abstracts and papers are provided on the submission portal.
- The deadline for abstract submissions is 7th September 2026 at midnight South African Standard Time.
- No abstracts will be accepted beyond the deadline.
- All abstracts must be written in English.
- Please proofread your abstract carefully and check spelling, grammar, and scientific facts before you submit. We will not make any corrections; it will be assessed exactly as you have submitted it.

- All abstracts will be reviewed by Technical Committee, and they will make the final selection.
- Notification of acceptance/rejection will be completed by 21 September 2026.
- If accepted, the notification may include comments and/or guidance on aspects that the author must consider in writing the paper. These comments will be used by the reviewers of the full paper.
- On notification of acceptance, you will be required to submit a full paper for review through the CAPSA 2027 website by not later than 4 December 2026.
- Instructions on the format of full papers will be issued with the notice of acceptance.
- All papers accepted by the Technical Committee will be published in the conference proceedings.
- The Technical Committee retains the right to select accepted papers for presentation at the conference. We will communicate this directly to the respective author.
In order to submit your abstract, you require the following information:
- The title of the paper
- The title, initials, name and organisation of the authors.
- A brief background of the context of your paper in relation to the conference Theme and Focus Areas (Sub Themes).
- A summary of the main aspects to be discussed or addressed in your full paper.
- Short/main conclusion resulting from your paper.
- The text must not exceed 300 words.
- Include a maximum of four (4) keywords in your abstract submission.
- No graphics are allowed in the written abstract.
- An option is provided to add a link for an additional multimedia submission.
- You will be required to submit a short biography (and photograph) for the presenting author of no more than 100 words during the submission process.
Criteria for evaluating the abstracts will include:
- Is it relevant to the conference theme and proposed Focus Area.
- Is it important to the field of asphalt pavements,
- Will it be of interest to attendees from southern Africa,
- Originality of ideas and methods,
- Is the purpose of the paper clearly stated.
